The Closest Full Fall Festival to Staunton

Staunton has plenty going on in October, but the pumpkin patches are all out of town. Most of the farms sit north of the city, toward Mt Crawford and Harrisonburg. We are the other direction, straight out past Fishersville and Waynesboro, about 25 minutes door to gate.

The difference is what you get when you arrive. This is not a pumpkin stand with a photo backdrop. One $16 ticket gets you five acres of u-pick pumpkins, a five acre corn maze cut fresh each season, hay wagon rides, slides, a jump pillow, a barnyard and more than twenty other things to do.

What You Get for $16

One ticket, every weekend of the season. Kids 3 and under are free, and parking never costs a thing.

U-Pick Pumpkins

Over five acres. Walk the rows, cut your own, weigh it at the barn on the way out. $0.59 a pound or $50 a wagon.

Five Acre Corn Maze

Cut fresh every season. This year’s design marks America’s 250th birthday. Bring a flashlight if you come back for Glow Nights.

25+ Farm Activities

Hay wagon rides, the hay mountain slide, jump pillow, barrel train, corn pit, barnyard animals and the giant yard games.

A Real Kitchen

Hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries, pretzels and nachos, plus lemonade, slushies, milkshakes and ice cream. Outside food is welcome too.

Glow Nights

October 10 and 17, 6 to 9:30pm. Walk the maze by flashlight, then campfire and s’mores. $12, and season passes admit.

Sold separately: apples for the apple cannon, at the general store; animal feed cups, at the booth beside the petting zoo; u-pick pumpkins and flowers, out in the fields; and anything from the farm market. Coming more than once? A season pass is $28 and covers every weekend of the fall season.

Pair the Farm With a Staunton Morning

We open at 10 and the light is best late in the afternoon, so a lot of Staunton families do something in town first and come out after lunch.

  • Gypsy Hill Park firstLet the kids burn off the morning at the duck pond and playground, then drive out and let them burn off the rest here.
  • Frontier Culture MuseumSpend the morning walking the farmsteads, then come see a working farm that is still going.
  • Woodrow Wilson LibraryTour the museum in the morning, then trade the history for a hay wagon in the afternoon.
  • A downtown morningBrowse the shops on Beverley Street, grab lunch, then drive out for the afternoon.
