Farm Field Trips in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia
A full day of outdoor learning for preschool through elementary classes on a working farm in Crimora, Virginia. Students rotate through 25+ farm activity stations, take a hayride, walk the corn maze, learn the pumpkin life cycle and every one takes home a mini pumpkin. $12 per student, teachers free. Thirty five minutes from Harrisonburg, twenty five from Staunton.

Fall field trips
Fall Pumpkin Patch Field Trips
A pumpkin patch field trip with real agriculture in it. Students get a hands-on pumpkin life cycle lesson, a fall hayride, the corn maze and more than 25 farm-themed activity stations to learn, move, play and explore.

Each student takes home a mini pumpkin, and every teacher gets a free classroom pumpkin.

Groups of 100 or more get the farm to themselves for a private field trip day.

Booking a Farm Field Trip
- Pick a weekday Field trips run September, October and early November, 9am to 2pm.

- Confirm your rotation We schedule your classes through the stations so groups stay together.
- Pack lunches There are no concessions on field trip days. Drinks are sold in the farm store.

For homeschool families
Homeschool Field Trip Day
One weekday each fall the farm opens for homeschool families, with the same hands-on day of learning, exploring and farm fun. In 2026 it was September 18. Tickets go on sale on Simpletix.

Field Trips near Harrisonburg, Staunton & Charlottesville Schools
2513 Rockfish Road, Crimora, VA 24431, between Waynesboro and Weyers Cave. Buses take I-81 to Exit 235 at Weyers Cave or Exit 227 at Verona. From Charlottesville, I-64 West to US-340 North. Free bus parking. Drive times are approximate.

The Event Barn
$250 for four hours with all-day admission for 20 guests, extra guests $5. Scouts, church groups, team outings.
The Pumpkin Patch
Five acres of u-pick pumpkins, $0.59 a pound, and $50 wagon loads for classrooms and churches.
Weekend Fall Festival
Families who want to come back on their own: Saturdays and Sundays through November 1, $16 online.
Field Trip Questions
How much does a field trip cost?
$12 per student and $12 per chaperone. Teachers and classroom assistants are free.
When can we come?
Weekdays from 9am to 2pm in September, October and early November. Reservations are required.
How big can our group be?
Groups of 100 or more get a private day. Smaller classes are welcome, call with your head count and we’ll schedule your rotation.
Is lunch available?
No. There are no concessions on field trip days, so please bring packed lunches. Drinks are sold in the farm store, and covered picnic areas are set aside for your group.
What do students take home?
Every student gets a mini pumpkin, and every teacher gets a classroom pumpkin.
Is the farm stroller and wheelchair friendly?
Restrooms are ADA accessible and indoor. The farm itself has rolling hills and unpaved paths, so expect uneven ground.
What if it rains?
We decide open or closed each morning and post it on Facebook first. Call 540-820-7451 and we’ll work out a new date for your class.
